North Sulawesi
Coral Eye Resort
In 2009 four marine biologists started a project on Bangka Island. The concept aimed to facilitate the exchange of development between universities and marine science students. In 2013 Coral Eye transitioned to welcoming tourists. Coral Eye Resort is now a unique blend of science, passion, and a love for the sea. This innovative approach allows Coral Eye Resort to fund environmental initiatives, provide scholarships to students, and enhance support for local communities
Nothing however is left out. This is the place to go when you want to combine a relaxing vacation with world class diving. Coral Eye Divers dive all of the macro sites of North Sulawesi and the fish rich sites of Banka and Ganga Islands.
Nestled between the Celebes and Molucca seas, Bangka Island occupies a central position within the Coral Triangle, globally recognized for its unparalleled marine biodiversity. Bangka boasts lush forests, mangroves, coconut plantations, pristine white sandy beaches, and rocky outcrops. It is strategically positioned just off the northern tip of North Sulawesi, between Bunaken Marine Park and the Lembeh Strait.
Spanning an area of 4,700 hectares, Bangka is home to approximately 2,000 residents residing in three main villages. The local economy thrives on fishing, agriculture, and, more recently, tourism.
Despite the absence of roads on the island, one can embark on jungle treks to explore the fishing village of Lihunu or stroll along the beach to reach the quaint village of Busa Bora.
Siladen Island Resort
Siladen is different to Bangka Island because it is smaller and some say more cosy. The island however is more busy and home to more resorts and villages. It also has first class cooking and the food is exquisite. But the main difference between Coral Eye Resort and Siladen Resort is the diving. While both resorts access the macro diving sites, the diving in Siladen is more wall diving, rather than the reefs of Banka. At this time Siladen offers more luxury. Siladen is the baby of Danielle Marianelli and his family. A true character and first class diver, Danielle is a great friend.
We love both resorts and both dive locations. Why not try our unique two centre holiday, with a week of reef diving iin Bangka and then a week on the walls of Siladen. Ask us how to make this happen.
